Calypso

Calypso was one of a kind. You could never get a better lizard than Calypso. When you get an animal you don`t think about when it is going to die or get sick untill it happens.  When she died I was so sad I could not explain it.  You wish you were with them when they died, but you weren`t so you don`t care about anything else.  Sometimes I say "If I had 3 wishs I wouid wish for Caiypso to be alive again!".  We all wish we had 3 wishs but we don`t so it will not come true.  Calypso was very curious and very brave.  She had a very good, long life.

The little dinosaur.  Quite possibly the best pet we've ever had.  She never made a noise, didn't smell and didn't bite.  She came by luck through our vet as a rare miniture bearded dragon lizard.  It took a little getting used to feeding her live food but Julian naturally took to the job of feeding her meal worms, the only one who didn't mind plucking them out by hand.  She also liked flowers, especially dandelions.    I'de often hear her crunching on romaine lettuce or her lizard kibble.  She was in my office during winter where the boiler makes it the hottest place in the house.  Yep, she was cool.  I think she had a good time with us.

I remember the day my vet asked me if I wanted to adopt Calypso (then Precious).  My immediate reaction was, NO WAY!!  I have always been teriified  by any type of reptile, but as her story unfolded and I was told how she came to be there I decided I would take a peek at her and leave with my sympathies to her situation.  As it ended up she was adorable and sweet and instead I left with her.  That was about 5 years ago, and I must say she truly was a great pet.  I eventually got over my fear of her and even used to take naps with her when I was pregnant with Julian. She was so cute and docile that she didn't even possess a single hunting skill, Bella used to have to remove the legs from her crickets so she could catch them (it always amazed me that they could survive in the wild).  She was a very gentle, funny little creature and I really will miss her.
